need some ideas

Besides a drum what are some other percussion instruments I could make? I'm having a hard time getting it to produce 3 different notes.

  1. You can make three separate mini timpanis for sure. I'm not sure how you could make that though. You can try making a triangle, and you can change the pitch by hitting different areas and dampening it, but most likely you'd have to bend three differnt pieces of steel and bend all of them.I found something called a slit drum that creates different pitches, but you'll have to carve it out. BASICALLY, xylophone/marimba/chime-like instruments will be your best bet.

  2. Hahaha. Um. :)

Anyway...if you don't want to make a drum, your best bet is to make a xylophone. It's the easiest.

  3. Did you try inserting different kinds inside the drum? Try rice, beans, and sands. I think it'll give you three different sounds.

  4. Go for a wind intrument. i made a panpipe. Pretty simple and can be easily made with as many notes as you want.
